Employer Branding

Finding good people who fit your organization: how do you do that in 2023? Many companies have vacancies on their website, but how do you ensure that the one candidate who is looking for a job eventually chooses you? You don't just do that anymore with good working conditions, a healthy lunch every day or a competitive salary. No. You do that with employer branding. How does that work? We are happy to tell you!

What is employer branding?

Employer branding is not just a nicely formatted job page or a one-off social media campaign. Employer branding is first and foremost about retaining current employees. Together with your team, you ensure that you are an attractive workplace for talent and that you are different from the competition. The term "employer brand" is therefore a collective term for various activities that you carry out in order to bind people to you.

Employer branding strategy

A common mistake in thinking is that an employer branding strategy is about external communication, but actually it is mostly about internal company culture. Within marketing campaigns, you can make all kinds of promises, such as working in Bali. If the reality is an office building on an industrial estate, with bad coffee and a poster of a white beach, that same candidate is of course quickly gone.

The starting point of strategy, therefore, is to identify what sets your organization apart. What makes you unique, why have current employees chosen you, and how do you ensure that people are happy in their workplace? The next step is to map out who you are looking for and what needs they have for their workplace. Only then do we talk about what channels we will use to ensure that your company becomes a magnet for talent.

"Employer branding is important because you are making a long-term investment in current and future employees."

How do you reach the new generation?

Generation Z, a generation that is on all kinds of social media channels (which many have not even heard of). They have a short attention span and find very different things important in their work than a good pension plan or a permanent contract. Think of fun at work, flexible working hours, a good salary to enjoy especially now and control over their own time. In short: for recruiters it is a big challenge to come and stay in the attention of this target group. At least not with a document full of text that only states what you as an organization are looking for. They want to know what you can offer them; short, powerful, quick and clear.
